C The way we live 4 Two families

 

Two teenagers, Sundeep in Britain and Stuart in Australia, introduce us to their families. We see inside their homes and find out how they spend their free time. Social language: social phrases.

5 You're the cook A group of school pupils cooks pancakes at school. They talk about the foods they like. Finally we see how an expert cooks pancakes at a restaurant. Social language: talking about likes and dislikes; giving instructions.

D Planet Earth 6 A space adventure The presenter Clare takes an imaginary journey through space and becomes the first woman on the moon. During her journey she tells us some interesting facts about outer space. Grammar: Present continuous; comparatives.

7 A day at the seaside A group of teenagers goes on a trip to the seaside where they go fishing in a rockpool, visit an off-shore island and buy ice-creams. Social language: asking for travel information; buying ice-creams.

E Natural forces 8 Today's weather Clare visits a weather centre to find out how they make the weather report for television. Then she goes to a TV studio and presents the weather herself. Grammar: Present simple; countables and uncountables; 'some' and 'a lot of'.

9 Young surfers A group of young people in Sydney, Australia, talks about their favourite sport: surfing. We see them surf and they tell us about the excitement of it. Social language: making plans, shopping.

F Living history 10 Looking for fossils Clare goes to Lyme Regis on the south coast of England to look for fossils. Grammar: Past tense of some regular/irregular verbs.
