Academic Writing is an advanced process-oriented writing text. The central goals are to teach the process that writers go through to produce texts, and to provide instruction on how to meet the demands of the academy by attention to form, format, accuracy, and correctness. One half of the book is devoted to leading the student through the process of writing from observation and experience, about a quarter of the book to helping the student solve the writing problems typical of university-level course work, and the remaining part of the book to an anthology of readings that complement the assignments used in the earlier portions of the text.
