The exercises in this section accommodate different learning and teaching styles and provide practice in all aspects of a skill.

The varied skills and activities in this section focus on:

Main ideas: Students choose the main idea of a reading or a paragraph or identify an author's opinion or point of view.
Details: Students show their understanding of details or distinguish between a main idea and a detail.
Guessing vocabulary from context: Students use contextual clues, recognize similarity in meaning between words, or recognize different forms of word families.
Text organization: Students show understanding of reference words or add sentences to a paragraph.
Restatement and inference: Students make inferences based on the text or distinguish between a restatement and an inference.

The final exercise asks open-ended questions that are closely connected to the topic of the reading, allowing students to share their thoughts, opinions, and experiences.
