The opening page of every unit introduces new vocabulary and asks questions related to the theme. A brief summary of each reading is followed by questions for writing or discussion that stimulate students' interest in the readings and allow them to share their knowledge about the topic. Finally, a separate vocabulary exercise familiarizes students with vocabulary related to the unit and helps them feel more comfortable as they begin to read.
